ATU Local 382 Membership Ratifies Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Local voted 409 to 71 (85% for and 15% against) to ratify the tentative agreement that was reached at the end of March. The Polls saw record participation with around 72% of the membership participating in the vote. Thanks to all members of ATU Local 382. If was felt that getting an agreement through the end of the year with some improvements was necessary before issues are tackled again in the next round of negotiations. The contract will cover April 2011 to December 2011 with the Union and company back at the table in September of 2011 to negotiate a CBA into 2012 and beyond. If you have questions please contact any of your Union Officials for information. Please follow this link to read the ratified CBA.

ATU Local 382 Participates April 2nd “We Are One” Rally

On April 2nd, many of our Brothers and Sisters participated to show support along with the rest of the nation having rallies on April 4th. The People are taking action to stand up against well-funded attack on the middle class and attempts to take away the rights of the workers.

It is a day of special meaning. On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, where he had gone to stand with sanitation workers demanding their dream: The right to have their Union and bargain for respect and a better future. Today, that same demand is electrifying people in states and cities nationwide – the right to join together for our common dreams.

It is a time to be creative and find ways to work together to get through the tough times while also providing a quality of life for everyone – middle class and working Americans included. Local 382 believes in the dream that Dr. King gave his life for, and believes it is well worth the fight to keep his dream alive.

We are working to rebuild, renew, and strengthen our Union as well as across the nation. It is time, let's embrace it, and let's do it. We simply cannot say this is a complicated time and that we are unequal to the challenge. We need the help of all our membership to organize and get the message out to the workers everywhere that their rights are under attack.

Many thanks to you all for your support and dedication while still providing a quality transportation and service during these trying times. None of us could have got through what we have been challenged with without your help. We all got through it, our Union is still here, and hard work lies ahead to bettering and strengthening our future together.

Have a Happy Easter

ATU Local 382
